The 20th June 2010 saw our 1st Steam Gathering take place on the site. In attendance were a number of full-size and miniature engines and a number of other most welcome exhibits. It was also a great pleasure to have, as our special guest for the day, Mrs Sheila Dibnah, widow of the much-loved steeplejack and champion of our industrial heritage, Dr. Fred Dibnah MBE. With Sheila, was Boilersmith Alan McEwen, who was a colleague of Fred's for many years and together they spent the day signing books / DVD's and chatting with our visitors. Also on site briefly was David Hall and his wife Fran - David was Fred's colleague and producer.

We would like to thank Eden District Council for most generously providing a £500 Tourism Grant, Sheila / Alan, all the exhibitors and visitors who came along to support the event - the sun shone and we really hope that you enjoyed yourselves.

We have been sufficiently encouraged by the comments we have received from the exhibitors and visitors to organise a similar event again next year - hopefully with Sheila and Alan in attendance once more. Further details will become available nearer the time. A personal view of the event from one of our shareholders and volunteers (who has just moved from Japan to Kirkby) can be found here.

The album below contains a selection of photos (courtesy of Sue Jones, Pete Moore, Phil Thompson and Dave Greenhalgh) covering the event.
