2013 looks like being a great year for Santa as he returns to KSE on

Saturday 7th December from 10 AM - 4PM

and if the weather is warm enough, we will be running steam train rides with Santa and his helpers.

If the weather is too frosty for steam train rides, Santa will be on site in his grotto. On site, we will have miniature traction engine rides to take the children to meet Santa.

Admission to the event & parking are free, but charges will apply for Santa.

Children £5-00 each with accompanying adults free (including train ride weather permitting).

Tilly Walker, the children's author, will be doing readings from her book 'Fred the Steeplejack's Christmas at Little Tinkering' and copies will be available for purchase on the day.

In the station, there will be a range of stalls, hot soups and snacks for purchase in our buffet car and we will have our shop open stocking a wide range of gifts for all tastes.

Follow our Facebook pages for the latest information about the event.

The theme for the 2009 event was a 'Green Christmas' with many shop windows in the town having excellent displays constructed from re-cycled materials. Our event was held on Saturday 12th December (10am - 4pm) - as ever, much effort went into decorating the platform and building Santa's grotto. Many visitors arrived on the free bus service from Kirkby and Brough which was operated by Cumbria Classic Coaches - there were many smiling young faces which made all the effort worthwhile.

The theme for the 2008 event was 'Carols' and many shops in the town designed their own window displays based around this theme as they had done in previous years. The event on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December ran from 10am - 4pm and was great success despite the cold weather.

Last year's event was very popular (our first attempt!) and was a joint effort at the East Station involving ourselves, 'Cumbria Classic Coaches' and the Kirkby Stephen Town Forum (A review is available on the Kirkby Stephen Town website). Unlike last year's 'Santa' which was just held on the Saturday, this year it involved a full weekend. Hopefully, we plan to gradually expand the event over further weekends with the added attraction of passenger trains operating - hopefully in the not too distant future!
